Snowman Craft for Preschoolers

We love using common household supplies to make new and creative winter craft ideas! So when we were looking for fun snowman craft ideas, we decided to make a paper plate snowman craft! This snowman craft for preschoolers, toddlers, kindergartners, grade 1, grade 2, and grade 3 students is not only fun-to-make, but provides a lovely winter decoration on your windows. I just love the snowman suncatcher craft part which makes our windows cheery all winter long! Whether you are a parent, teacher, or homeschooler – you will love this fun craft project!

Paper Plate Snowman

All you need to whip up with super cute winter craft for preschoolers are a few simple materials you probably already have on hand:

• tissue paper – we used white and blue
• construction paper – various colors to make hats, ear muffs, arms, etc.
• black sharpie
• contact paper
• scissors
• glue
• paper plates (optional)

Snowman Craft Ideas

Start by cutting up the white and blue (or any color you like) tissue paper into squares.

Open contact paper so sticky side is up. Press tissue paper all over. Cover with additional contact sheet with sticky side down towards tissue paper. You will need 2 sheets to make a snowman.

HINT: We made one white and the other a mixture of blue and white.

Use a bowl or freehand to trace a large circle with a sharpie marker. Now cut out your circle.

Winter Craft for Preschoolers

Repeat with another sheet of contact paper to make a smaller circle. Now you have a two ball snowman.

Now you can either cut out the center of a paper plate or use a piece of whtie paper to make the white border.

Then use your sharpie (carefully, remember sharpies are permanent markers) to add eyes, mouth, and buttons.

Now cut out any accessories you’d like to use to make your snowman such as earmuffs, mittens, scarves, top hats, twig arms, triangular noses, etc.
