Water Cycle Explanation for Kids

So what is the water cycle? The water cycle is the path that all water follows as it moves around Earth in different states.

  • When the clouds can’t hold anymore water, they let it go. Precipitation is water that falls to the Earth in the form of rain, snow, sleet or hail. When it reaches the ground, this precipitation collects in rivers, streams, lakes and oceans.
  • Condensation occurs when water  is cooled, changing it from a gas to a liquid. These liquid droplets join together to form clouds.
  • Water is evaporated when it it heated by the sun and changes from a liquid to a gas.
