Shopify's Merchant Services Product team is focused on developing Shopify's 1st party applications and building our next generation of products and services. The Technical Program Management team within Merchant Services enables the development of our product vision while driving execution capability and impact. We keep thousands of people focused, coordinated and moving as fast as possible so Shopify can combine the impact of giants with the speed of a startup. This is where Technical Program Management plays a critical role in accelerating our efforts to deliver on our strategic priorities.

This is what you'll be doing:
  • Own program planning, oversight and coordination functions. Drive, track, and execute high priority, complex initiatives with cross discipline orgs and teams across Merchant Services and Shopify or external partners.
  • Oversee and manage the definition of program/project scope with teams to ensure technical feasibility.
  • Identify product and technical dependencies and develop mitigation plans and strategies.
  • Communicate and provide transparency into program status to the executive and senior leadership team while tracking progress toward milestones.
  • Connect and bring teams together working on multiple project streams while ensuring overarching program alignment
  • Manage critical project opportunities and risks, issues, dependencies and scope changes, escalate and partner with teams to triage and resolve.
  • Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders to improve efficiency, effectiveness and escalate areas of opportunities/risks to Product Leadership.
  • Ensure Programs/projects are delivered on-time, within scope and continuously identify areas of opportunity to improve overall execution capability across R&D.
  • Drive internal and external improvements across multiple teams and functions.
  • Manage and drive strategic partner engagement and deliveries.


Qualifications

What we want you to bring to the table:
  • 5-7+ years of experience in Program Management
  • Bachelor in Commerce/Business, or Computer Science preferred
  • Experience in Software delivery
  • Communication and interpersonal experience, including relationship building and collaboration within a cross-functional team.
  • Experience understanding product requirements and translating needs into plans.
  • Proven track record of quickly ramping onto new programs and going technically deep to understand Program objectives and requirements
  • Strong management and people skills adept at managing through influence paired with a passion for technical understanding and context
  • Cross functional stakeholder management - experience identifying and establishing when to bring the right teams and people together to focus on the right content and holding people accountable
  • Self driven - you're proactive and able to navigate through ambiguity and complexity within a fast paced environment to bring clarity to stakeholders
  • Experience building, developing and managing highly effective program management tools and cadences
  • Ability to gather and integrate important information, distill and synthesize requirements to summarize program impacts and opportunities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both in written and verbal form to both technical and non-technical audiences; Ability to inspire confidence in product, engineering and leadership teams.
