Senior Designer RTW Knitwear

Jonathan Simkhai is seeking a Senior Designer to join the RTW design team. This role will lead the design and development process of knitwear under the guidance of the Creative Director and work closely with PD/Tech team as well as the vendors. The ideal candidate is a creative individual who has knitwear design experience in the luxury and/or contemporary market. 

Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Lead seasonal concept research including research on vintage sourcing, garment construction, new stitch/finishing techniques, fabric treatments, and trims ideas
• Design and execute seasonal RTW knitwear collections based on a compressive understanding of the merch plans  
• Create and overseas line list
• Responsible for interpreting the seasonal direction into innovative and commercial designs
• Lead development fitting and support PD/Tech to achieve design intentions
• Manage design and development calendar
• Partner with PD, Production, and sales team to ensure design align with market intension
• Support asset creation for each season including style out, runway preparation, look book shoot, and product shoot
• Source new materials, attend trade show and expand supply chain to support the category growth
• Manage and train junior designers and seasonal interns. 

​Qualifications and Skills:

• Minimum7 years of Experience in design for knitwear. Experience in runway collection is plus.  Highly creative with extensive knowledge in knowledge of yarns, stitches, and knitting machines.
• Strong time management and organizational skills to establish priorities and meet specific deadlines
• Advanced knowledge in illustrator, Photoshop, and other design software
• Strong interpersonal skills and team player Proficient in demonstrated design in hand drawing, CAD, drape
• Ability to work in a global, multi-cultural environment  
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency
